Bring your camera and enjoy eight (8) historic Covered Bridges and see the natural phenomenon --- GRAVITY HILL!

9:30 am

Meet our costumed guide in the parking lot of Hoss's Steak and Sea House (located directly across from the PA Turnpike Exit 146 Bedford, PA along Business Route 220).

The very first stop will be the Claycomb Covered Bridge. This 126' structure spans the Raystown Branch of the Juniata River. A stop will provide ample photo opportunities.

10:15 am

Traveling through the historic village of Bedford, PA you wil learn about the world famous Bedford Springs Hotel (the summer White House for President James Buchanan); the Espy House (George Washington's headquarters during the Whiskey Rebellion); one of the oldest Court Houses in Pennsylvania; an art deco service station; gigantic Coffee Pot; and other sites.

11 am

The second bridge of the tour features glistening white high boarded sides and a native stone abutment. The Snook's Covered Bridge, which crosses Dunnings Creek, is sure to provide "calendar quality" photo shots.

11:15 am

Visit the third relic from the past --- the beautiful Bowser Covered Bridge, crossing Bob's Creek near the village of Osterburg, PA.

11:30 am Arrive at Slick's Ivy Stone Restaurant where colonial costumed waitresses will serve you a delicious lunch. You will also enjoy looking at the antiques and collectibles on display.

1 pm

Fourth on the tour is the spectacular Knisely Covered Bridge, which crosses Dunnings Creek. You will be given the opportunity to walk across this bridge and get a close-up view of the Burr-Truss type of construction.

1:30 pm

Read the sign: "Five Dollar Fine for Crossing Faster than an Walk" when you view the Ryot Covered Bridge near the town of Ryot, PA. Lost to fire in 2002, Bedford County Commissioners committed to rebuild this structure. The bridge was rebuilt and reopened to traffic in 2004.

1:45 pm

Located on private property, the sixth bridge, Cuppett's Covered Bridge, has never been painted and has a rustic appearance.

2:15 pm

No trip to Bedford County would be complete without a visit to Gravity Hill, one of five gravity defying sites in North America. Yes, you will actually see water flow uphill!

3 pm

King Post construction is featured on the seventh bridge of the day. The Colvin Covered Bridge, painted barn red, spans Shawnee Creek.

3:45 pm

The final stop of the day will be at the Herline Covered Bridge near Manns Choice, PA. The beautiful structure, which is the longest in the county, crosses the Juniata River. If time permits we will also take a drive by the Turner's Covered Bridge which can be viewed from a distance, because there is no turn around for large motor coaches at this site.

4:30 pm

Your guide will depart at the original pickup point (Hoss's Steak and Sea House) and you will return home with a greater appreciation of early transportation and life in colonial times in historical Bedford County, Pennsylvania..
