A closed flock of over 1000 superior ewes and lambs offers a first hand look at practical shepherding and all natural pastoral agriculture.
The Silhouette is located on the Monsour Sheep Farm.
Activities around the farm area include biking, bird watching, cross country skiing, fishing, horse shoes, volley ball and more. Guests also enjoy the beautiful "sunset walk" around the farm.
Nearby, you'll find excellent golf courses, Old Bedford Village, Historic Downtown Bedford, Shawnee Lake, 14 covered bridges, canoe/kayak rentals and skiing at the highest skiable mountain in PA, (Blue Knob).
Monsour Sheep Farm can accomodate couples, families or even small groups. Whether you're planning a family vacation, farm vacation, reunion, romantic getaway, business meeting or church retreat, each group is given personal attention.
Jack, Kathy and the working dogs (Border Collies and Great Pyrenees) operate the farm, right around the guest house. The sheep are always on pasture, so your stay, regardless of the time of year, is sure to afford you a "Shepherd's-eye-view" of the farm and surrounding vistas.
The seasonal management cycle includes lambing in the spring, shearing in the summer, pasture rotation and winter feeding. We have an ecologically friendly philosophy that encourages use and re-use of resources. Our farm is truly a way of life and we have not sacrificed its integrity -- work goes on!
Ammenities at the house include a fully equipped country kitchen, spacious living room, basement game room and a five person hot tub on the back porch. Beautifully furnished, the house has a total of 4 bedrooms with 2 1/2 baths. It will sleep 9 comfortably. Extra cots are available for larger groups. Outside, nature surrounds you, and many people enjoy a campfire in the evenings ... under a crisp, clean star filled sky.
Daily, weekend, and weekly rates are available. Available year-round. Smoking is permitted on the porches.
