Fitchner family legend says that either Jacob or Johnathon Fitchner built this bridge near Palo Alto, thus leading to its dual identity. It is a multiple kingpost bridge. Built in 1880, it crosses Gladdens Run at Palo Alto near Route 96 four miles south of Hyndman, located in Southwestern Bedford County. Privately owned.
It has horizontal clapboard siding on the lower 1/3rd of the bridge, making it easy to see the multiple kingpost structure. It sits on stone and mortar abutments, with no steel reinforcing.
