Tussey Loop I "Ring-around Tussey" 62.2 miles (extremely difficult) |
| This ride is for experienced long distance
riders. There are several easy-outs and vehicular support can be arranged
at Grouseland. The ride climbs Tussey Mt. with several miles at 11% grade,
and a down hill at 17% grade. For as difficult as this ride is it is the
epitome of a great ride. Mountain streams, overlooks, flat valleys, farmland,
and deep woods all together in one heroic ride. The ride starts and stops
at Grouseland where you can stock up on energy food, and go swimming or
shower off when you are done. There is a picnic area 14 miles in where
you can get water and use the bathroom facilities. At 33 miles you can
swing into the Sheets in Everett, and at mile 43 you can visit Mallow's
discount groceries. Much of the ride is on fairly flat roads, but when
you get to the mountains they are the real thing. To get to Grouseland Tours from Bedford, take 30 east to Everett, 26 south to Clearville, proceed straight to Big Creek go right for 11 miles to Purcell, left on Purcell Rd. and left on Robinsonville Rd. ¾ mile up the hill on the left is Grouseland, (you can follow signs from Everett). |
